And There Went April

Imagine my surprise when I looked at the calendar and noticed there was no (and apparently never has been) April 31.  I mean, I thought I still had 24 hours in which to lose about 30 pounds (if I was going to catch up with my 2013 weight loss goal).  Needless to say, I was a bit flummoxed by this and promptly went to McDonalds for a Value Meal to assuage my distress (and yet augment my thighs).

I hope you are doing much better with your 2013 plans.   As for me, I am going to look for some tape to keep my eyes open, because I'm afraid if I blink, it will be June 1 tomorrow!

My Nursemaids For The Day

Yes, eventually we all got out of bed.  Maggie and Minnie were not helpful when it came to fetching drinks or meds or Kleenex, but they were cuddly for awhile.  And they weren't picky about what we were watching on television.  So I guess it was a good day!

Spring in Nashville

Spring in Nashville means that in any given week, it can also be winter, spring, summer, and fall.  In other words, don't put up your winter clothes, because you may need them.  The only true things about a Nashville spring is that it's going to rain (alot), things are going to bloom (alot), and you're going to get a cold (for sure).  Usually you will catch your spring cold from somebody you know or the grocery cart at the store.  There will be coughing, sneezing, draining, Kleenex, earaches, toothaches, fever, chills, hot sweats, crankiness, drowsiness, several combinations of drugs, and/or a combination of any of the above.

In other words, I now have the family spring cold.  I just need to be rid of it by Friday, when I am going somewhere where hopefully it is really spring and will be sunny so I can get some natural Vitamin D.  And maybe meet a fellow sneezer while I'm there.

Some Days I Is Smart

Today was the running of the Country Music Marathon.  It was also a day when we got two inches of rain at my house, as was probably the norm for most houses in this area.  In other words, it was a rainy, rainy day.

I didn't do today's half-marathon (nor the marathon) part of the race, choosing a long time ago not to do it.  sometimes my decisions pay off.  Today, instead of standing around for hours waiting for my corral to start the race and then wogging several hours in a deluge, I instead sat in my car with KB and Molly and marveled at those people who were running, jogging, or walking in the rain race.  I was alternately impressed and sorrowful for those people - impressed that they were doing it and sorry that they were soaked to the bone.

So bravo to everybody - the runners for participating in such soggy weather and to me for being so unknowingly brilliant!

Ate This ...

The big size.  Only because somebody was on his way home from work and asked if I wanted anything and I requested a Coke Zero and a Hershey Almond Chocolate Bar.  I'm guessing this size was on sale down at the Wal Mart.  And since my willpower is nonexistent at this point, I succumbed and ate it.  The whole freakin' thing.

Oh well, at least I'm not in Switzerland like my sister Marilyn, where there apparently is a "chocolate factory where you can have as much chocolate as you can eat!"  However, I do believe the giant sized Hershey bar was a good start.

In other news, apparently Twinkies will be back in stores in July.  So much for bathing suit season ...
