Eventually we wound up at Angels Stadium, where we wogged around the warning track - of course stopping for a photo op. Obviously we were not concerned about our time - unless you count our concern that we would get swept if we didn't keep on pace. The good news was that we knew once we were out of the stadium, we would be at Mile 10, which meant we might possibly finish before we passed out. Oh, and if you're wondering where Molly was - she was several miles ahead of us.
Finally, we did finish, and limped back to the hotel, but not before some dude asked KB to take his picture with his phone, I guess to document his success, despite his obvious fall on the course, as evidenced by his bandages, blood, and boo-boos. At this point, the heat was effecting my brain, as evidenced by the fact I didn't know which way a "D" should be pointed.
Eventually we caught up with Molly at the room - she had already showered and taken a nap and gone shopping and read "War and Peace" and consumed a 5-course meal. We all packed our suitcases and headed to the airport so KB and I could fly to San Francisco to prepare for the Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk and Molly and Steve could fly to Nashville to return to work (although Molly will fly to San Fran on Thursday to join us for the walk).
KB and I boarded our plane and she asked which side we should sit on to see the coastline. We both got window seats one behind the other. We both got seatmates - she got a pilot in his uniform while I got an idiot who argued with two flight attendants about the announcement concerning turning your phone off - he heard that you could keep your phone on during take-off if it was in airplane mode. They told him he could either turn it off or we would return to the gate. KB's pilot apparently turned a deaf ear and ignored the drama. Idiot boy (who talked to the cute girl on his other side about her iPad - he had never seen one, which led me to believe he's been "away" somewhere since he's never seen an iPad or heard about the airplane mode regulation) finally turned off his appliances and we made it into the air.
Upon arrival in San Francisco, we waited forever for our bags to come out (we each still had our $12 overstuffed duffel bags, only now we also had Molly's so that she wouldn't have to bother with it since she has to go to New Orleans for a meeting on Tuesday through Thursday at which time she will fly through Charlotte to San Francisco). Apparently there was only one baggage handler, because the bags came out one at a time, as in one-Mississippi, two-Mississippi. Finally all three bags came out, and KB rented one of those luggage carts, since the elevator was three miles at the other end of the baggage floor, and we were already discombobulated with idiot boy, the fact that when I called the dude whose condo we were renting, he thought we were coming in tomorrow, and trying to figure out where to find the Super Shuttle. Eventually we were safely on the shuttle and soon arrived at our home for the next few days - Condo Dude and Mrs. Condo Dude made sure everything was ready for us. We scraped up enough energy to make it to Panera and Safeway before returning to the condo and passing out face down on our respective beds.
So in other words, I am probably writing this post in my sleep. Wonder if this excuse can be used retroactively for some other posts ...
