Double Nickels (and their caretaker) Do A 5K

The picture to the left is terrible - apparently I did not study it closely enough when we asked the fellow race participant to take it.  It's fuzzy and hard to see, hence the smallness of the picture.

But, it is a photo of our gang - The Double Nickels - and our caretaker Molly at the Women's Running 5K today in Nashville.  We formed our gang during the 3-Day when we were willing ourselves to do one more step.  See, three of us (see if you can figure out which three) were all born in 1957, hence the "double nickels" (we all turned 55 this year, in the space of four months).  Since Molly was walking with us, we dubbed her our caretaker.

We all finished the 5K, not forgetting that only two weeks ago we were doing 19 miles on a Saturday instead of  paltry 3.1.  It was amazing how easily and quickly three miles passed by today.  Anyhow, it was a good chance to get back together after San Francisco and remember those fun times - like Sharon's last four miles when I'm not sure if she even knew where we were; Karen's mantra for the last four miles - "I CAN'T STOP, I CAN'T STOP"; Molly napping under a tree waiting for us to catch up, and all those blisters and sunburn.

Of course today wouldn't be complete without our caretaker's demonstration - today it was something to do with iPhones.  It was sort of like being at a computer seminar at a senior citizen center.  Our caretaker tries really hard to keep us updated on the latest technology.

Anyhow, today was fun and we got it done.  And now we're thinking about doing another 3-Day next year in Washington, DC!
