Palo’s is the “adults only” restaurant on the Disney
Magic. By adults-only, I don’t mean
hootchie-kootchie. I mean nobody can eat
here unless you’re over 18, thus making it a quiet, memorable gastrointestinal experience. We were excited because we would get to see
Sylvester, our favorite server who is always on the Magic (when you have a
favorite server on a cruise ship, does it mean you’ve cruised too much? Nah, I didn’t think so).
Anyhoo, we all arrived at our appointed time for brunch and
renewed our bond with Sylvester and the fun began. First he toured us around the familiar food
display – the pastry table, the seafood table, the Italian delights table, the
dessert table, and of course, the hot food display (where you order what you
want).
Here’s what the six of us managed
to consume:
Drinks: 6 mimosa, 6
cups of coffee, 3 coca-colas, 8 diet cokes, and countless glasses of water
Food: Approximately 8
tons of various food items like shrimp cocktails, cheese things, cream puffs,
croissants of many varieties, crab legs, green beans wrapped in things,
asparagus wrapped in something, tiramisu, strawberry rhubarb compote, more creamy
frothy stuff, three bowls of strawberry soup, three orders of Oyster Rockefeller,
a grape/cheese pizza, an Italian sausage pizza, a margharita pizza, six orders
of chicken parmesan, three orders of eggs benedict, two orders of frittata, two
orders of pancakes, one order of tilapia, and a concoction of berries and
freshly whipped cream.
Somehow I managed to make it back to our cabin sans wheelchair and/or stretcher, changed my clothes to my stretchy sweat pants, and passed out on the bed in a food coma.
Now to recover before our dinner at Palo tomorrow night!
