Time To Travel!!

Yes friends, it’s time to hit the road again. And to dispel any rumors you might have heard, I am going to Disney World. Well, at least at first. I know, it’s a real shocker – try to deal with it. We’re headed down for the Disney World Marathon Weekend where we’ll wog here and there and get a medal or two.

Steve and I caught the butt-early flight to Orlando and had a lovely flight. Sure, they had to de-ice the plane first, but since there was very little to de-ice, I was fine with it (if it would make the flight any safer or smoother, I’m fine with whatever it takes – washing the plane, repainting the plane, whatevs).

As we were getting close to Orlando, I saw the Magic Kingdom, then we landed, picked up the rental car, and hooray! – the room was ready! We’re staying at Boardwalk, and it’s always great news when

we can move right in. Steve deposited me and our bags at the hotel and went to play golf. I unpacked and went in search of lunch, ending up at the France quick service place in Epcot. I had some sort of turkey sandwich and some sort of chocolate raspberry dessert. Upon returning to the room, I decided it was time for a nap – it had been a busy morning!

Eventually Steve finished golf and returned to the room. We got groceries and a Giordanos pizza and returned to the room. We could see the “Star Wars” fireworks at Hollywood Studios from our

balcony, so that was pretty cool, even though we couldn’t hear the accompanying music. Soon it was time to pick up Molly from the airport and then it was time to go to bed. We have a lot to do the next few days!!

Yes, Another Maggie The Cat Story

I have a photo from last year that shows Maggie The Cat sitting in my suitcase as I was preparing to go to Disney World. Today I took the same photo (different suitcase) as I was packing to go to Disney World.

I wonder what she thinks when she sees me packing. I’m sure she associates the suitcase with my being out of town. But what does she think about it? Is she ticked because she will only have Minnie Cat around? Is she concerned because she might run out of food or water, or somebody might not scoop her poop? Is she wondering if I will leave a drawer open enough for her to get in?

Whatever she thinks, I’m just glad that she currently does not express any bad feelings. We once had a cat who did so by urinating in the suitcase. So far, Maggie just sits in there, maybe hoping for a trip somewhere.

Then again, she will also crawl inside a Kroger bag if I leave it on the bed. Maybe Maggie’s not so smart after all …

Aunt Moo

Because of some upcoming travel, I will not be in town for Lindley’s birthday. She decided we could have her family party early, and asked Molly to make birthday cupcakes in the shape of party hats. Molly did, and then brought them over for Lindley and Everley to decorate. And they did, although I’m sure more candy decorations went in some people’s mouths than on the cupcakes. No matter, a fun time was held by all!

Cats

Okay, so I said that I wasn’t a crazy cat lady. However, there are times that I think maybe I am. Like when two kitties (who don’t really care that much for each other) both decide to jump up and cuddle and take a nap with me. And completely ignore the fact that the other kitty is in residence. And for whatever time it lasts, we are contended and happy and purring …

And then somebody has to get up and disturb the peace. And there may be hissing and swiping and the such. What can I say - sometimes the crazy cat lady has to go use her own litter box!!

Happy 2016!!

And here we are, in 2016. Do I have resolutions? Of course. Will I mention them here? Nope, mainly because I’ve forgotten some of them and others won’t make it past today. However, I am going to mention one – the Run The Year 2016 Challenge.

The goal of this challenge is to run/walk/crawl 2016 miles this year. That’s a lot, I know. It basically figures out to be around 5.5 miles a day. Yes, I still get that it’s a lot. But who doesn’t like a challenge? Okay, so that would be me. But I’m doing it anyway.

There are a lot of interpretations on this challenge. Some of the participants are only counting actual training and racing miles (those would be runners). Some are probably counting the miles covered in their vehicles (not allowed). Some are hoping to count imaginary miles (also not allowed). And some are doing what I’m doing – counting the steps on my Vivo Fit (a contraption on my arm that counts steps and converts them into miles). Of course, the real runners think that the step-counters are not doing the right thing. Whatevs – steps are miles are miles.

For me, I’m just trying to get more active. And if counting steps and turning them into miles is the way to achieve a goal, then so be it. I’m going to keep a counter on the side to let you know how many miles I’ve achieved - just in case you want to join me!
