Cousins

Today was parent-teacher conference day at Lindley's school. Parents had the usual conference with the teachers and got to see some of the work that their children do in school that doesn't come home. One of the things that Lynnette saw (and sent to me) was one of the entries in Lindley's journal:

In case you don't read kindergarten, it reads:
"My cousin had 4 fits. One at the park and 3 more at my LaLa's house."
And there you have it.  The close, volatile, loving, contentious, fun, amazing relationship that these two have. Sometimes it's great and sometimes it's not so great. But it's important enough to record and remember. And it's my greatest joy and blessing to see this relationship as it grows and develops!

It's A Mom Thing

Once upon a time, Maribeth and I did the Princess Half Marathon. That year, it was kinda warm, so Steve got a bunch of sponges, soaked them in water, and handed them out to runners on the course. Of course, he was very popular. Anyhoo, apparently he still had some when Maribeth and I showed up. And of course, I had to make sure Maribeth was cooled off. Because that's what Moms do. As in get all up in your bizness.

And sometimes, I do that quite well ...

Seriously??? It's March??

Sometimes I feel like I'm binge watch a television series, as I notice that yet another month has slid past me. And the worst part is that it's like I'm watching a bad television series, as everything that I had hoped to get going in 2016 is not getting going. But I've sung that song too many times, so let's move on ...

March - it's such a full month. There's that March Madness basketball thing, that I'm not interested in. There's the crazy March weather that makes Nashville weather even crazier. There's Easter and Spring Break and vegetation budding and allergies and sneezing and colds. Things start turning green and sprouting flowers and the sun actually starts shining again.

So there are a lot of things going on in March. The big question is - will I get a lot of things going on in March? I guess I'll blink my eyes and find out - because when I do, it will be April!!

And The Haircut Wins

This morning someone woke up and decided that she DID NOT want to go to preschool. There was another pressing issue at hand, so preschool was not attended today. And here's the reason why ...

Over the weekend, it was discovered by Moo that someone had taken the scissors and cut her own hair. Which was after she had used her scissors to cut her Barbie's hair. It was just a chunk off the side, but still it was a noticeable chunk. And when one has longish willy-nilly hair, it's not always that noticeable. At least to LaLas who are just trying to keep little ones from running off into danger.

Anyhow, someone's mother was informed of the cutting that apparently was performed sometime on Saturday. And when it was brought to everyone's attention on Sunday, it was obvious that some remedy was needed for the new hair situation.

LaLa considered trying to remedy it, but everyone knew that would be a bad idea, since LaLa had never been to hair-cutting school, and all attempts to trim little girls' bangs back in the Dark Ages were disasters. All the professional hair cutting places had closed by the time this trim was discovered, so any remedy had to be put off. And that's where we were this morning.

A deal was struck that for the opportunity to not attend preschool today, someone would go to the profession hair stylist and get her hair styled. And so she did. Everything went quite well, perhaps due to the bowl of suckers that could be approached after good behavior in the stylist's chair, And in the end, someone turned out quite well and all were happy - especially LaLa, who didn't have to get our her good scissors after all!!

Post-Bath Fashion

Need I say more? I mean, what does one add to Elsa pajamas and a yellow headband? Nothing, right? Of course, if these were in my size, I'd probably have been seen sporting this look at the Wal-Mart on this Saturday night ...

Anyhoo, the point is that a bath was achieved and hair was washed and pajamas were put on, all without screaming and bloodshed.

In other words, it was a good Sunday night!
